A new underwater robot could protect vital undersea cables and pipelines from sabotage. Dstl, working with industry partners, has adapted a commercially available remotely operated vehicle (ROV). The ROV feeds video and sonar to operators, who can then remotely place explosive charges for safe neutralisation at depths beyond human diving capability.
