See how we smash protons inside the Large Hadron Collider at the ATLAS Experiment at CERN! Protons collide to create two muons (shown in long blue tracks) and two electrons (shown in short blue tracks). The emerging green clusters represent the energy in the ATLAS calorimeters, which lie outside the inner tracking detector.
