Happy National Llama Day! Llamas were domesticated by the Incas about 6,000 years ago. Instead of hooves, they have two padded toes to help them traverse rocky terrain. The hemoglobin in a llama's blood can absorb more oxygen than other animals, allowing them to walk at higher elevations. Llamas are intelligent and can learn simple tasks just after a few repititions. We have a whole "llama" love for our llamas! | Global Wildlife Center
