When Great Journeys New Zealand launched its new Scenic Plus service on the Northern Explorer, we jumped on board to experience it for ourselves. Did you see our brand new train wash on Breakfast this morning? The wash is up and running at KiwiRail's depot in Waltham where The Great Journeys of New Zealand’s TranzAlpine and Coastal Pacific trains are serviced. Here’s our own video, showing that before each trip, the trains are washed early in the morning and then travel to Addington Station, arriving at the platform sparkling and ready for passengers to board. | KiwiRail

📣Journeys through Ashburton are safer, after a major upgrade to the intersection at Walnut Avenue was completed in November. 🛤Rail works included a full level crossing upgrade with the installation of new half arm barriers and flashing lights and bells for both pedestrians and vehicles, plus electronic main and emergency pedestrian gates.
