American Dipper (Cinclus mexicanus) is North America’s only truly aquatic songbird. Dippers can be seen in shallow, fast-moving streams searching for food. They often bob their tail as the move between rocks and logs, even diving completely underwater to forage for aquatic larvae on the stream bottom, using their wings to negotiate the current. I saw this bird in Zion National Park late in the afternoon. The water in the foreground caught the reflective color of the towering red sandstone cliffs
