Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk, was one of the most remarkable men of the Tudor court, not because he was born powerful, but because he earned everything he became. Born to Sir William Brandon II, Henry VII’s standard bearer was slain by Richard III in the Battle of Bosworth when Charles Brandon was an infant.
