The Climate Prediction Center, a division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), released its long-range forecast for December 2025 through February 2026 on Thursday. The outlook tells two different stories: a cold, wet winter for some states versus a hot, dry season for others.
A more significant winter storm is expected Tuesday, which could produce widespread snowfall across the state.
A winter storm is expected to leave several inches of snow across the Southeast Michigan region on Saturday into Sunday.
Precipitation may begin as a mix of wet snow and rain across inland areas Sunday morning before transitioning to all rain by afternoon as temperatures rise. The Jersey Shore should see high temperatures in the low to mid 50s, while inland locations remain in the 40s.
At 2:05 p.m. EST on Saturday, the National Weather Service released an updated winter weather advisory valid from 7 p.m. EST until Sunday 1 p.m. EST for Keweenaw, Ontonagon, Houghton and Gogebic counties.

Winter storm could bring 8 to 12 inches of snow to southern Wisconsin Nov. 29; latest forecast
A winter storm warning remains in effect for all of southern Wisconsin until 6 a.m. Nov. 30. The storm could bring snowfall totals anywhere from eight to 12 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Totals of 14 inches and above are also possible near the Kettle Moraine and south of Intersate-94/US-18.
