Signal No. 4 was raised over Catanduanes and part of northeastern Camarines Sur as tropical cyclone Pepito intensified into a super typhoon on Saturday, threatening the Bicol region, weather service PAGASA said.

The typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near the center and can bring gusts of up to 215 kph. Pagasa will classify it as a super typhoon if maximum sustained winds reach 185 kph.
