The 76ers’ terrific offseason concluded with one final scribble of the pen when Joel Embiid signed a three-year, $192.9 million max contract extension last week. There was little surprise this deal — which takes the 30-year-old Embiid through the 2028-29 season — was finalized weeks after the superstar center became eligible earlier this summer.

Of course, he’s elite at sinking mid-range jumpers and feasts at the foul line. Embiid led the NBA last year with 4.2 attempts per game between 15 and 19 feet, and he drilled a stellar 53.9 percent of those shots. More points around the hoop and early in the shot clock would still be great.

Up next in this series is veteran big man Andre Drummond who is back in his second tour of duty with the Sixers. He played 49 games for Philadelphia in the 2021-22 season before he was dealt to the Brooklyn Nets in the James Harden deal. He averaged 8.4 points and 9.0 rebounds in the 2023-24 season for the Chicago Bulls.
