The Boston Red Sox have one of the best defensive outfields in baseball, and they showed off their hands team Wednesday night. Right fielder Wilyer Abreu and center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela combined to take a home run away from Detroit Tigers slugger Kerry Carpenter in the seventh inning at Comerica Park (GameTracker).

Justyn-Henry Malloy hit a pinch-hit single in the ninth to end the game and give the Detroit Tigers a 6-5 win over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night.

The Red Sox rallied late against Tarik Skubal but couldn’t get the go-ahead run home, leaving the door open for the Tigers to pick up their second straight walk-off win to complete the sweep.

Boston Red Sox outfielders Wilyer Abreu and Cedanne Rafaela teamed up to rob what would have been a homer from Detroit Tigers designated hitter Kerry Carpenter. In a tied game in the bottom of the seventh inning, Abreu tracked back to the wall to make a leaping attempt on the well-hit ball from Carpenter.
