AFC Wimbledon have been forced to postpone Saturday’s League Two fixture against Accrington Stanley after failing to secure a replacement ground to stage the match.

AFC Wimbledon have confirmed that their match with Accrington Stanley has been postponed despite tankers removing more than 100,000 litres of water from their Plough Lane pitch this week. An enormous sinkhole opened up on the waterlogged turf at the Dons’ home ground after heavy rainfall in the capital on Sunday night.

Former AFC Wimbledon players Jack Currie and Lee Brown have both made donations towards the JustGiving page to help the club get games back on at Plough Lane following the extensive flooding and damage to the pitch and stadium. Currie, 22, progressed through the club’s academy and made 95 first team appearances before joining Oxford in the summer.
