In Sporting News' recent 2025 NFL mock draft, a shakeup occurs at the top that predicts a fall down the board for a talented ACC prospect.

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. projected Hurricanes star Cam Ward to become the third Miami player ever to be picked first in the NFL draft.

Mel Kiper Jr. revealed his first NFL mock draft for 2025 on Wednesday, and it had a twist involving the 2 elite quarterbacks in the draft.

“Sources: Georgia transfer quarterback Carson Beck has committed to Miami, with an announcement of his commitment expected soon,” Pete Thamel said in a post. “Beck, a two-year starter for the Bulldogs with a 24-3 career record, will succeed Heisman Trophy finalist Cam Ward there.”

Shedeur Sanders had been the favorite to be the first player taken in the NFL Draft, but that honor belongs to Cam Ward now.

NFL Draft is a little under 100 days away. There are plenty of questions to ponder until then. The biggest one — at least locally — is whether the New York Giants, who have the No. 3 pick, will find their QB in what’s widely considered a two-quarterback draft.
