The United States recently saw its first measles fatality since 2015 when a child in the current outbreak died. The Oklahoma State Department of Health said there are no indications that the Texas measles outbreak has made it here.
Measles have been reported in eight states, with the first death of an unvaccinated child occurring in West Texas on Feb. 26.

OSDH sent out a health alert advising clinicians in Oklahoma to consider measles among patients with compatible symptoms amid a measles outbreak in Texas.
Texas and New Mexico are not the only border states that have seen an increase in measles cases recently. A year ago, measles was found in Missouri.
