A New York City high school senior has been jailed on a federal arson charge days after authorities say he set a fire that severely burned a sleeping subway passenger.

The maniac who set a homeless man on fire on a Manhattan subway train early Monday morning is still on the loose, leading police to release surveillance images in hopes of tracking him down.

A building fire that tore through a Mount Vernon, New York, apartment complex has displaced all 250 residents, authorities with the city’s Office of Emergency Management announced late Sunday. Authorities say 150 people are in immediate need of shelter, with 75 to 100 others believed to be traveling.

New York City officials cited an equipment failure as the inciting incident in a chain of events that sent a tower crane's boom crashing to a city street in July 2023.
