HOUSTON — A weather disturbance in the north-central Gulf has a 10% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next seven days, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Another stalled front will bring heavy rain to Florida and other parts of the Gulf Coast. Meanwhile, extreme heat takes hold of the central U.S. as rounds of storms fire up across the northern Plains and Midwest.

Some relief from this intense heat is on the way. With tropical moisture increasing Friday, expect more widespread showers and storms to build in the next few days with the best chance for heavy rain along the SE Texas Gulf coast.
