In 2022, a ballot measure in Colorado called for legalizing the use of psilocybin in mental health therapy — and it passed. Colorado officials have, since then, been working out the rules, and companies operating in that state can now apply for licenses to administer psilocybin (which is found in psychedelic mushrooms).

Colorado residents voted to legalize the therapeutic use of psilocybin, the chemical compound found in psychedelic mushrooms, in a 2022 ballot measure, launching two years of rulemaking before it could be used to treat conditions such as depression and PTSD.

Colorado joined Oregon in legalizing psilocybin therapy, though the drug remains illegal in most other states and federally.
