Antonio Veciana, a Cuban anti-Castro fighter in the early 1960s who helped found the militant group Alpha 66, died Thursday in an assisted-care facility in Miami. He was 91.

The man who was military chief of Alpha 66, one of the city’s most hard-line anti- Castro paramilitary groups, said he was not only a Cuban spy, but also a double agent for the FBI.

This has been their goal since Alpha 66 was founded by 66 Cuban exiles after the failed U.S.-backed Bay of Pigs attack on Cuba. But experts wonder if their logic can be applied to modern-day reality.

Andres Nazario Sargen, 88, a leader of the anti-Castro group Alpha 66, died Wednesday in Miami of complications from colon cancer, said his daughter, Olguita Nazario.
