Gov. Janet Mills (D-ME) suggested she could restart her Maine Senate campaign after suspending it in April against Democrat Graham Platner as the embattled progressive insurgent faces fallout from his latest scandal involving sexts to women who were not his wife.

Mills told the Sun Journal over the weekend that while she suspended her campaign, she never actually withdrew or dropped out.
The governor announced her support Tuesday for Pingree, who led the Governor's Office of Policy Innovation and the Future for more than six years under Mills.

The outgoing governor noted that the state has assigned more public health nurses to the area and emphasized testing and treatment efforts.
Mills re-entering the race comes after oyster farmer Graham Platner, the race’s other Democratic candidate supported by Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, faced criticism for sexting several women after getting married.
