No Champions League away goals rule in 2025: What happens if teams are tied on aggregate goals after second leg?
Away goals no longer count as a tiebreaker during the knockout rounds of the Champions League after UEFA abolished the rule in 2021 for the first time since 1965.
Real Madrid, Benfica, PSG, Atlético, Dortmund, Monaco... It’s knife edges aplenty and the prospect of the goal count being level is more than likely.
If any of the UEFA Champions League knockout phase ties end level after both legs, there will be no away goals tiebreaker used.
