A year ago, the Denver Broncos went on the road to take on the Buffalo Bills in the Wildcard Round of the playoffs. Denver got stampeded from start to finish, as the Bills ran the ball at will and walked out with a 31-7 win.
Following a first-round bye, the top-seeded Broncos will host the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round on Saturday, Jan. 17. The NFL will announce the kickoff time — 2:30 p.m. MT or 6 p.m. MT — and TV network on Monday.
The Buffalo Bills got the better of the Jacksonville Jaguars and won their first road playoff game since 1992. Josh Allen played a superhero again, and while it worked on the box score, the quarterback was evaluated multiple times after taking so many hits.
The Bills played the Broncos in the 2024 playoffs. The fell behind 7-0 on a Bo Nix long touchdown pass on the first drive of the game, but then dominated in a 31-7 win at Highmark Stadium. That game surely plays a factor in Buffalo being favored, as does the experience factor at quarterback.
Just because there is no Broncos’ game this weekend does not mean there is no UFG…because ultimate fans are in it every week. And how good does it feel to actually be in the bye week, scouting our future opponent rather than being the “just happy to be here” mode?
Quarterback analyst Tim Jenkins believes the Broncos' offensive strategy in Week 18, consisting of a few chunk plays and long, sustained drives (two drives with 10 or more plays) and not turning the ball over, were part of a 'vanilla' game plan by design.
