Microsoft announces a safe way to stick with Windows 10 past its 2025 end-of-support date, but it'll cost you.

Tech support won't be offered for Windows 10, but security updates will roll out past 2025 with the Extended Security Updates option.

Now we know exactly what users must do to keep safe with Microsoft saying it will offer Extended Security Updates (ESUs) for consumers but only if they pay a yearly $30 (£24) fee. Once signed up for ESUs, Windows 10 PC will continue to get "Critical and Important security updates".

You'll need to spend $30 — roughly £23 — to continue to receive critical patches for security flaws and vulnerabilities in Windows 10 from next year, Microsoft has confirmed. You'll be able to enrol your Windows 10 laptop or desktop PC in the paid scheme in the coming months,
