The Paper, a spinoff of The Office, follows the denizens of a struggling Toledo newspaper in the same mockumentary style as its predecessor. Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore lead the series alongside Office alum Oscar Nuñez, reprising his role as Oscar Martinez. The comedy premieres on Peacock in September.
The show, in which the documentary crew from The Office lands on a new subject, is called The Paper. It follows the publisher (Domhnall Gleeson) and staff of a historic but struggling newspaper in Toledo, Ohio.
In September, we’ll know whether or not The Office spin-off actually works. The Paper won’t premiere on broadcast TV like its predecessor—an unfortunate sign of the times, but Peacock probably still needs the subscriber boost to justify its existence.
Peacock has given fans a first look at “The Paper,” the upcoming mockumentary series set in the same world as “The Office.” The first-look image, which can be seen above, was released as part of the NBCUniversal upfront presentation to advertisers on Monday in New York.
Peacock announced the show’s anticipated release window and shared a first-look image from the pilot episode. Gleeson can be seen standing on a desk as he addresses the newsroom, while Nuñez, Impacciatore, and the rest of the staff look on.
