Genivaldo Gomes Moreira, 41, was arrested Sunday in connection with an apartment fire in Deerfield Beach that killed Ana De Souza, 54, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

A family is speaking out after a man was arrested in connection with an arson fire that consumed a Deerfield Beach home and killed a woman and her dog. Genivaldo Gomes Moreira, 41, was arrested Sunday night and is accused of setting the fire that killed Ana Paula Ribeiro de Souza,

Inside the home, which had been engulfed in flames, they found the body of Ana Paula Ribeiro de Souza, 54, according to the sheriff’s office. Police did not immediately reveal her cause of death. Her dog was also found dead as a result of the fire.
