This was close to the hotel we were staying at in onawa so we thought we’d check it out. Looks to be a big area for campers/RVs but I can’t speak to that. What I can speak to is the visitors center/m…Full review by MelissaClaire93

We use to love to camp here. Now the weeds around the lake are terrible. You have a hard time walking to the lake.Full review by janmZ4990TV

Has anyone used the lodge or restrooms? Is it fun for all ages?

Restrooms at the historical display are quite nice. It certainly looked like visitors of all ages were enjoying themselves. Mine was a brief visit-- no camping.

Q:
We will be traveling through here on Saturday, May 30 in late afternoon with 4 children ages 1-9. Will the boat be open? Can the kids board the boat? What else is there to do here? Can anyone advise how much time we may want to spend here? We're passing through this area on an adventure through Rushmore, Yellowstone, GTNP, and RMNP. We want to incorporate education into our trip, especially about Lewis and Clark.

Yes you can board the boat, if heading north on Interstate 29 get off on the 112 exit and turn left or west a mile or two down is the entrance to Blue Lake past the casino turn off, once on the park road about a mile past the S-turn in the road is the welcome center up on the knoll on the right side about 300+ ft is the boat dock and keel boat with a picnic area, we spent 2 1/2 hours there but they had the re-enactment going on at the time so there was lots more to see. We also did the Black Hills and Yellowstone Park, but on the way we stopped at Devil's Tower too, I think it added 63 miles to our trip but it was well worth it and I highly recommend you stop there too. Keep cameras ready, be on the alert for deer, antelope and buffalo on the roadways, we almost hit a herd of antelope in the Badlands, 3 deer on the way to Devil's Tower and a stubborn buffalo at the entrance of Yellowstone Park, he was huge and dwarfed are Toyota and refused to get off the road
